Is Fiber Optics Connectors The Most Trending Thing Now?

What is Fiber Optics Connector?

An optical fiber connector terminates the conclusion of an optical fiber, and enables faster connection and disconnection than splicing. The connectors automatically couple and align with the cores of fibers so light can pass. Better connectors lose hardly any light due to reflection or misalignment of the fibers.

You will find 4 most well-known varieties of fiber optic connector.

ST Connector

  •          ST shortens for Straight Tip, A quick release bayonet style Connector developed by AT&T.
  •          ST Connectors are the most frequently used Fiber optic connectors in networking applications.

  •         STs were predominant in the late 80s and early 90s.
  •          ST connectors come in two versions i.e. ST and ST-II. These are keyed and spring-loaded.          They are push-in and twist types.
  • ·         Used for multimode fiber cables.

SC Connector

  •          SC stands for Standard/ Subscriber Connector. Developed by Nippon Telegraph and Telephone.
  •          fiber optic cable connector which uses a push-pull latching mechanism very similar to ordinary audio and video cables.
SC Connector

  •          For bi-directional Transmission, two fiber wires and 2 SC connectors (Double SC) are utilized. It Means it may be utilized in just single mode fiber cable
  •          SC connector is recommended in the TIA/EIA-568-A standard for structured cabling

FC connector

  •          FC stands for Fiber/ferrule connector, developed by  Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Japan.
  •          FC connector was extensively used in fiber optic network application until of late.
  •          This connector uses a threaded container and a position locatable notch to achieve exact locating of the SMF in relation to the receiver and the optical source.

  •          Once the connector is installed, its position is maintained with total accuracy.
  •          It is used in single-mode or multimode fiber and application requiring low back reflection

LC connector

  •     LC stands for Lucent Connector, sometimes referred to as the Little Connector. developed         by Lucent
  •   It is a small form factor SC-style connector (push-pull) with RJ45 type locking mechanism that uses a 1.25 mm ferrule.

  •     There are 3 different types of LC connectors:

a)       Single-Mode LC APC
b)       Single-Mode LC UPC
c)       Multi-Mode LC UPC
